How I wrote a song called Marryland

It all started out as a typical girl’s night out as high functional sociopaths at the usual place which was my living room couch. The wine was flowing and not long until our topics touched our desires, love and where life would lead us.

Maren’s wish to express her feelings towards someone she recently met, and was a game changer for her, was relentless. It became clear what needed to be done:

We needed to write a song!

Fueled by wine, her never ending energy, ideas and motivation we managed to finish the song during that very night.

Less then 6 hours later the first version of then called „Thinking” was recorded, and sent out to the other side of the ocean, while I was so excited I could barely breathe.

The way I remember it, her recipient was delighted by our result and the deuce stayed in contact, ultimately resulting in their relationship!

The end of the story couldn’t have any more resemblance to an actual modern fairy tail:

Queen Mary married her love and moved to a country far far away and hope-fully living happily ever after :) And boy, is she missed!!!

Coming from that raw living room session like recorded song, it took us as a band and especially our guitarist Norbert many, many hours to rerecord all instruments and turn our demo version into a real finished song.

Forever I’ll be grateful that she has given me the opportunity to express her feelings so intensively through my vocals. /Henny
